Oogie Boogie Bash returns to Disney California Adventure for select nights between August 18 and October 31, 2026, and Disney has now confirmed enough of the character lineup to start planning a strategy around it. Remember, Oogie Boogie Bash is a separately ticketed after hours event, so knowing who's actually going to be there matters if you're deciding whether the ticket price is worth it this year.

The Big New Addition

The headline addition for 2026 is Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove, who's set to appear over in Grizzly Peak. Yzma has been a fan requested character for years at Disney villain events, so her addition alone is likely to shift crowd patterns toward that section of the park on party nights. Alongside her, Syndrome from The Incredibles and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty return as previously confirmed favorites.

Treat Trail Characters

The event's treat trails, where guests move between characters collecting candy, span several lands this year. Hollywood Land is doing a lot of the heavy lifting, hosting Oogie Boogie himself alongside Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb, Hades from Hercules, and Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Over near the Hyperion Theater area, guests can find Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco, and Avengers Campus gets its own villain in Agatha Harkness from WandaVision.

The Rest of The Lineup

Beyond the treat trail characters, the broader roster is deep this year. Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle are dressing as the SandersonSisters, which has become something of a signature bit for the event in recent seasons. Hercules gets extra representation through Pain, Panic, and Megara, while Kingdom Hearts versions of Mickey, Donald, and Goofy give longtime game fans something to look for.

Oogie Boogie Bash Candy

You’re not prepared for the amount of GOOD candy supplied at Oogie Boogie Bash

Speaking of treat trails, we amassed A TON of candy over the course of the evening. And as you can see from the photo above Disney stocked us up on the good stuff too! Snickers! Skittles! Twix! M&M’s! All six of us loaded up at every stop and came away with more candy than any of us could reasonably consume with any remaining shred of dignity and respect. Still, we ate it all and we’ll do it again this year!

Toy Story characters make an appearance as well, alongside Edna Mode and Mr. Incredible from The Incredibles, and a Marvel contingent covering Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Scarlet Witch. Haunted Mansion theming rounds things out with grave diggers, hitchhiking ghosts, and ballroomdancers roaming the park.

Madame Leota's Swinging Wake Debuts This Year

Disney is also debuting a new street party for 2026 called Madame Leota's Swinging Wake - A Haunted Mansion Street Party. This effectively replaces the popular Frightfully Fun Parade.

Naturally, Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake leans into Haunted Mansion theming as its centerpiece rather than the more general Halloween atmosphere past parties have used. Thankfully, this new Haunted Mansion street party is getting good reviews. We’ll fin out for ourselves when we attend Oogie Boogie Bash on September 17th.

But if Haunted Mansion is your favorite piece of Disney lore, this alone might be worth building your night around.

Planning Notes

Tickets are still available for a limited number of nights for Oogie Boogie Bash this year. You can find tickets here. Price range from $139-$199.

Disney PhotoPass is included with unlimited digital downloads during the event, which is worth using if you're hoping to get photos with harder to find characters like Yzma or AgathaHarkness.

Dracula Donald

Kim opted for the Witch Minnie Mouse T-shirt

Costumes are allowed but need to follow the event's specific guidelines, so it's worth checking Disney's official rules before finalizing an outfit if you're planning to dress up yourself.

Themed T-shirts is as far as my kids wanted to go for costumes at last years Oogie Boogie Bash.

With character lineups this large, arriving close to park opening on your chosen night and prioritizing the characters you care most about early is still the most reliable strategy.

Alright, that’s all for now. See ya next time.
