Monstropolis's First Menu Preview Includes an 8-Tentacled Sushi Chef and a Drink Called Blort

Monstropolis, the Monsters Inc. land heading to Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2027, has mostly been a ride and theming story so far. This week Disney's culinary team pulled back the curtain on the dining side, and it turns out the two restaurants planned for the land are going for very different vibes, one a stylish night out, the other a neighborhood pizza hangout with a few genuinely strange twists.

Harryhausen's Wants To Be The Fancy Option

Harryhausen's is shaping up as the land's table-service restaurant, and Chef Brian Piasecki, Disney's Director of Culinary and Concept Development, described it as "the swanky place that you go for a night out." The signature visual is an Audio-Animatronic sushi chef with eight tentacles preparing food in front of guests, which is exactly the kind of theming flourish that turns a restaurant into its own attraction.

On the menu, expect ramen bowls built on a tonkotsu broth with alkaline noodles, plus dishes designed to look the part of a monster's dinner, including an eyeball-shaped fishcake and green eggs. Piasecki summed up the whole approach simply, "Monstropolis is full of fun, adventure, zaniness, and craziness. We're taking familiar dishes and adding unexpected twists."

If you’ve ever experienced Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley To The Rescue at Disney California Adventure then you’s like been saying for years that the Harryhausen’s scene NEEDS to be an actual restaurant. I know I have. I’d wager this one single dining addition will be enough to get more than a few west coasters to plan a trip to Disney World.

Archie's Scare Pig Pizza is the Quick-Service Hangout

Archie's Scare Pig Pizza takes its name and inspiration from Monsters University, and it's positioned as more of a casual, neighborhood pizza spot rather than a destination meal. The real conversation starter here is the drink menu, specifically Blort, a purple frozen soda topped with what's described as Scream Apple Foam. Evan Rosenthal, Disney's Beverage Director, admitted the team pushed the concept pretty far before landing on the final version, saying "there were so many moments where we asked, 'Is this too much?'"

That kind of willingness to go weird with a theme is honestly part of what makes Disney dining concepts memorable years later, and Blort sounds like exactly the sort of thing that becomes a must-try the moment Monstropolis opens.

Put It on Your Scare Schedule

Monstropolis isn't opening for humans until 2027, so none of this affects a trip you're booking right now. But if you're the kind of planner who likes to know what's coming before everyone else does, this is useful groundwork, Harryhausen's is shaping up as a sit-down meal worth a reservation, while Archie's Scare Pig Pizza looks like the grab-and-go option you'll want for a quick break between rides once the land opens. Either way, Blort has already earned a spot on our must-try list the day this land opens its doors.

Alright, that’s all for now. See ya next time.
